
JACK CHANDLER

Originally hailing from suburban Washington DC, Jack Chandler is a lyric baritone currently based in Tallahassee, Florida. Mr. Chandler’s 2020-21 season was defined by his work with Pensacola Opera (Pensacola, FL), where he served as an Artist in Residence. With ample caution taken due to the coronavirus, Pensacola Opera staged two mainstage productions, where Mr. Chandler performed the roles of Le Dancaïre and Morales in Carmen as well as Bill Bobstay (the Boatswain) in H.M.S Pinafore. He also covered the roles of Escamillo and Captain Corcoran in the same two productions. Beyond the mainstage, Mr. Chandler performed the role of Belcore in the Resident Artist production of L’elisir d’amore, and collaborated with colleagues on a host of concerts and recitals across Pensacola.
Mr. Chandler is a three-time alumnus of the Aspen Music Festival and School (2016, 2017, and 2019). During his time in Aspen, Mr. Chandler studied voice with Vinson Cole and worked closely with Ed Berkeley, Kenneth Merrill, Charles Prestinari, and William Billingham among others. Mr. Chandler performed the role of Mr. Lindquist (A Little Night Music, 2019), covered Marchese d'Obigny (La Traviata, 2017), and sang on a myriad of concerts, masterclasses, and scenes programs.
From 2015 through 2018, Mr. Chandler was an Apprentice Artist at Opera Roanoke (Roanoke, VA). In addition to a great deal of chorus experience, Mr. Chandler performed the roles of the Sergeant (La bohème), Sciarrone (Tosca), Stewpot (South Pacific), and Dottore Grenvil (La Traviata). During his time at Opera Roanoke, productions were conducted by Mo. Steven White and Mo. Scott Williamson.
Mr. Chandler earned a Master’s in Music from Florida State University in 2020. While there, he performed the roles of Schaunard (La bohème), Slim (Of Mice and Men), Claudio (Béatrice et Bénédict), and Sir Berkley (Der Vampyr). Mr. Chandler is a student of David Okerlund. Mr. Chandler is also a proud alumnus of Virginia Tech, where he earned his BA – Music in 2018 and studied voice with Ariana Wyatt.
